Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over 500 K-3rd Grade students come to my classroom each week. We dance, we sing, and we play every instrument we can! The children absolutely LOVE playing the percussion instruments we currently have as they keep the beat, or play a new rhythm to our songs and dances. My 1st year with Gallego Primary is coming towards a close, and I have had time to inventory the instruments and equipment that is here - both what we have, and the condition it is in.
The requested MALLETS and RHYTHM instruments will replace what is currently broken or missing, and the BEAN BAG CHAIRS will provide a corner for students to take a break and read from our inspiring Classroom Book Collection.
As I plan for next year, this will also help me create "Centers" in our classroom for small group work. These centers and group work is invaluable to building student agency and community.
This year my students have been excited about exploring music. I am thrilled to push their musical skills further - because with each successful new skill, comes greater enthusiasm for the students as well as a stronger sense of community! I ask for your support so that I can continue to push and develop a vibrant music program for our Arts Magnet School.
