My Students

Students at my school spend half of their day in a Spanish language immersion program. They will grow to have the linguistic skills to compete in a global society.

The biggest challenge of teaching at a dual language school is delivering the curriculum in half the time.

Lessons are concise and focused. My students are active and engaged first grade students. As a teacher I must maximize the time and use materials wisely.

My Project

Students will use the white boards and markers to answer comprehension questions in reading and math. We will play the game, Quiz Show, to make informal assessments and checks for understanding fun and exciting for the students, as well as assess all students quickly and easily by reading what each child has written on his or her whiteboard.

Rather than ask students questions one at a time while the rest of the class sits passively, I can ask each student to record their responses on a white board and show me their answers.

I can immediately assess who understands and who needs further assistance. Furthermore, each child is engaged in learning.
