My Students
My 4th grade students attend a diverse elementary school that is located in an agriculturally rich region of central California.
Our parents are hard workers and involved in their children's education.
My 4th grade students are eager to learn and are engaged in many activities throughout the day. We work diligently each day to do our best as we strive for mastery in skills that will enable us to be successful in the real world.
My Project
Having a new set of books will enable my students to read the novel, "Riding Freedom" more easily. The set that we are currently using has been loved and used so much that each book is coming apart with pages missing. New books will allow my students to each have a book without sharing with a partner to read. In doing so, each child will be able to read at his or her pace without worries of holding up another child. In addition to studying American History, we will also be tying this novel to an environmental science unit. Students will learn how the main character lives off to pursue her dream of becoming a landowner. Riding Freedom is always a favorite to read with 4th graders as history comes alive through this historical fiction novel.
