Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Project

Every second-grade student in DCPS learns how to ride a bike as part of the PE curriculum. The introduction of bike riding as a life skill isn't just an effort to introduce students to a fitness activity, but to also teach other skills such as learning to read maps. MES 2nd-grade students have been working so hard and trying their best during the bike unit. The final bike ride is approaching, and the items listed will be going into a goodie bag to congratulate students for all their hard work and dedication.

Students not only learn how to ride a bike, but they also learn the skills of determination and persistence.

Our students don't usually get the opportunity to freely ride a bike in their community due to a lack of safety and resources, which makes this moment even more sacred for our students. We want to make the final bike ride as memorable as possible for our students. Your contribution can help put a smile on our student's faces after completing their final bike ride.
