Rhythm, Feel the Beat

Help me give my students drumsticks, new percussion instruments and supplies for our woodwind instruments.

My Project

I love my students and they love coming to band class everyday. They are excited to play their instruments and try new things. The drumsticks will be used for learning rhythm and playing together as a class. They will especially serve my 4th grade students as we wait for their new band instruments to arrive. The cymbal cradle, frog guiro, and cowbell will add new equipment and sounds to our growing percussion section. The saxophone neck straps will add comfort to my students playing our new saxophone. The clarinet reeds will enable students to continue playing their clarinets when their reeds are no longer serviceable. They trombone brass saver will help keep our trombone slides clean and help to maintain the instruments. The expo markers will provide students and the teacher with the ability to write on the whiteboard for learning purposes.

Student success in band class depends on several factors and rhythm is a large part of that.

One of the biggest goals I have this year is getting my students to have better rhythm fluency. I plan to accomplish this through different mediums besides body percussion, clapping, or playing on their individual instruments. I will use the drumsticks for bucket drumming and use as rhythm sticks. My 4th grade students will be using the drumsticks for both activities regularly until they begin playing their band instruments later this year. As my program continues to grow and evolve, other small percussion instruments and accessories are essential for the music that we are playing. Besides the percussion instruments, items like the saxophone neck straps makes it more comfortable for my young saxophone players to enjoy playing their instruments.
