My Project

At Rose Creek Elementary we believe in having a growth mindset. I always teach my students to focus on progress, not perfection which is connected with having a growth mindset.

We have a school wide goal that 60% of students will make typical or better growth in their reading from the beginning of the year to the end of the year.

We have several school improvement plans to help support our students in achieving this goal. One program we have that supports this goal is our Walk to Read program. The students at our school work so hard to improve their reading skills daily in this program, and we love to see positive attitudes and try to encourage students to feel self motivated.

Incentives help students feel motivated to keep up the hard work! Allowing students to earn small incentives during small group instruction is a great way to increase the engagement and excitement that students feel about their reading instruction. This project is specifically focused on trying to increase the engagement during our small reading instruction time and provide a reading centered incentive to encourage them to keep going. Our students have great attitudes and work so hard on their individual goals. We are seeing amazing things as a result of their hard work!
