Rewarding Individualized Goals

Help me give my students good incentives to do their best on their assessments.

My Project

Before every topic assessment, I give each one of my students a personal goal or target score. For some, their goal is reach 95%, for others their goal is 45% - depending on how well they have scored on previous tests and how present they have been in class. They hold the sticky note with their goal score on it and say out loud "I know I can get this score. I can do even better than this. I am smart and I am ready for this test." I have them look at each other and say "you are smart, you can get your goal!"

After the scores from our assessments come back, we celebrate EVERYONE who reached their goal whether that was an 85% or a 55%!

In my class, if you reach or exceed your goal, you get a prize. I've been buying fruit snacks, erasers, and Mochi squishies on my own but personally I don't love giving the students candy because they get so much sugar elsewhere and other good prizes are expensive! With sticky hands, fidget toys and squishies, students will be able to celebrate their achievements with tangible prizes!
