Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Exciting rewards will encourage my students to work as a team, complete their daily homework, and memorize times tables.
Giving rewards to my students really motivates them to work-hard.
My bilingual 3rd grade students, like any 8 and 9 year-old gets super excited when their hard work gets acknowledged and celebrated.
It is challenging to work as a team. My students sit in teams of four. As they collaborate, share ideas, and complete classroom assignments, I give them team points. Every Friday, we count the team points. The team with the most points gets to choose a prize.
Each student has a homework calendar for the month. If they complete their reading and math homework, they get a stamp. At the end of the month students that completed their daily homework choose a prize from the treasure box.
Finally, it is very important for my third grade students to memorize their times tables. It requires a lot of effort to memorize all the times tables. After students have memorized the 0, 1, 2, 5, 10, and 11 times tables they get to choose a prize. Then, when they have memorized the rest of the times tables they get to choose another prize.
All of these prizes help me celebrate my students’ accomplishments and hard-work!
