Our first grade team has a tradition of finishing each school year with a couple of themed review days. In May, we work hard to wrap up our curriculum studies, preparing our students for 2nd grade. Once we finish our curriculum, we begin reviewing content from the year in hopes that the students will hold onto their knowledge through the summer and into the second grade school year.
Our team works hard to make the last days with our students engaging and memorable as our way to say goodbye for the summer.
We use these theme days to plan content review, behavior rewards, and keep the students engaged overall until the end of the year. With these materials, we will play games centered around math review, with skills like addition, subtraction, telling time, and comparing numbers. We will compete for extra tickets to play the games by earning them through behavior rewards and assignment completion.
