My students need headphones to use during computer workstations. I have students who finish their work early so they will be able to get on the computer for the headphones will not disturb the class.
My 4th grade students are awesome in their willingness to learn and be a great productive citizen. I have 2 groups made up of about 50% LEP and transitioning into English. I teach them math, science and social studies. This past summer they were victims of Hurricane Harvey and missed 2 weeks of schooling. They are still trying to overcome their losses and do not have technology nor WiFi at home as their parents can barely providing their basic needs. They are learning to love math and especially math computer programs. My students enjoy science projects and research to discover the world we live in. My class welcomes new students without looking for differences for we are learning through social studies acceptance of differences between us. They so enjoyed Hispanic Heritage Month by doing a project and meeting an Hispanic Opera singer and famous ballerina. They are preparing to research a famous Black American for Black History Month.
My Project
The headphones will allow my fast workers to be rewarded with computer time. Going to the computers after finishing assignments is a great motivator for them. The headphones will give them the freedom to listen to the games and programs without disturbing the rest of the class. They can also log into their math program to close any gaps they may have.
The healthy snacks are also great motivators for a job well done.
I reward students with snacks for getting a 100, doing their homework, perfect attendance, and to continue working even when tired. State testing is commencing and the snacks with give them the energy to complete test successfully.
