Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

To end 5th grade and celebrate our students' hard work completing elementary school, we are going on an end of year, overnight retreat at a local community center! Our students spend most of their time in the community they live in; an urban setting bustling with cars, traffic, and buildings. This nature retreat will allow these city-kids the opportunity to spend time in nature, hike, camp, and rock climb.

These sleeping bags will allow students to have bedding during their overnight trip.

We are trying to alleviate as many barriers as would prevent any students from coming along. For many of our students, this is their first time away from their families overnight. Our school hopes to provide resources for our students to have access to staying overnight so that it is not an obstacle. Your support means more students have access to spending time outdoors in ways they haven't experienced before!
