it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
¡Hola! As an elementary teacher in a dual language program, I proudly celebrate Latino culture every day through bilingual education. My vibrant students come from diverse backgrounds; some are native Spanish speakers, others are Spanish learners, and about 60% qualify for Free or Reduced-Price Lunch benefits.
To ignite a true passion for literacy and ensure equitable access to high-quality literature, I am seeking donations to fund vibrant new bilingual books and art materials anchored in our theme: Retell, Reimagine, Rejoice: Bringing Books to Life!
These stories will serve as the foundation for an interactive, interdisciplinary adventure. By integrating art and hands-on creativity, my students won't just read the pages; they will design their own character puppets, paint vibrant stories, and bring narratives to life through the expressive art of song. By exploring singing not just as a musical exercise, but as a dramatic tool to convey emotion, character perspective, and cultural rhythm, they will learn to use their voices as instruments of storytelling. These artistic tools will empower them to actively act out plots, rebuild narratives dynamically in both languages, and celebrate the joy of reading
