My Students

My high school is situated in a rural community in Monroe County, TN. Here, we encourage our students to do the incredible everyday. Unfortunately, we aren’t always given the tools and resources to help them accomplish the incredible.

I use my English 12 class as an opportunity to teach real-life skills each student will need to know, understand and master to be competitive in the next steps of their future.

Research papers, resumes, interviews and technical writing top the list.

My Project

My project helps my senior students become career ready. My students need to learn how to interact and communicate online in today’s technology-filled society. A classroom set of Chromebooks will enable my senior classes to fully engage in communication methods that they will later encounter in the working environment. I plan to use these laptops daily in classroom lessons. Most specifically, these Chromebooks will be used for resume construction, filling out applications correctly, writing cover letters and responding appropriately and politely with thank you emails. All of these tasks are crucial interview skills that must be taught for success on the job search quests.
