Students in my English 12 class focus on research papers, resumes, cover letters, interviews, etc. These are all things they will encounter in the next stage of life. My goal is to expose them to situations they will probably encounter in the future. Eventually, I want to have a classroom set of laptops. This would enable me to have a paperless classroom. Students would submit assignments via Dropbox and communicate by email. This would prepare them both for college, and the working world. Currently, we share the library with the entire school so my desired setup is unrealistic. We do have three computer labs, but these labs are full with assigned classes all day long. Having our own laptops would enable my students to be able to have a paperless, electronic classroom experience. This would help prepare them for online classes in college and submitting projects in the workplace in the future. I strongly feel one of my biggest responsibilities is to get my students ready for the real world!
