My Project

My students have been working so hard to keep up with the curriculum, and rocking their assessments throughout the year, but they are also a group of fantastic kids who I truly enjoy being with on a daily basis. They are an active bunch to be sure, but have beautiful hearts, and I love being able to reward them for their behaviors as well as their responsibilities in the classroom. We have a classroom economy that pays individuals for class jobs such as planner person (who writes objectives we covered at the end of each day), desk checker (checks desks for organization), counter cleaner, vacuumer, and more. Each person has a job and, therefore, accountability to their peers to do well at their job each day. We have an auction once per month where they can use their class economy money to bid on items that they'd like to have as their reward/prize.

Having prizes for them to reward positive behaviors and responsibility increases the likelihood that they'll continue positive interactions moving forward.

When the behaviors aren't a primary concern for me, then I can focus on delivering quality content, which benefits all of the students in amazing ways. These prizes will certainly motivate them to continue demonstrating positive behaviors.
