Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are amazing and always so eager to learn. The pandemic set many of them back socially and emotionally so now, we are trying to work together to teach them skills to cope with their strong emotions and express themselves in positive ways. Many of their families also suffered from financial hardships during the pandemic, and still have not fully recovered. Many are still struggling to keep up with their children's growth and need for new clothes and essentials.

My students love coming to school and learning and I want to support their growth.

Some of their families are struggling to be able to provide clothes that fit them. Our school maintains a clothing closet to support these families, but some of our sizes and items are getting low in stock. It breaks our hearts when a family comes in, and we have nothing in their child's size. We are hoping to fill in the gaps with some new training bras and boys' pants.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
