Help me give my students items such as Amos cookies, beach back drops, Luau party glasses, Luau leis and bandanas to celebrate the life of Wallace Amos.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Today was a heartbreaking day for my 6th grade team, as we found out that Wally Amos, the creator of Famous Amos cookies has passed away in Hawaii. Our first unit is about the American dream and whether it is achievable or not. Students learn about famous individuals and the process they had to go through in order to be successful in America. They will learn about Jackie Robinson, Feng Ru, The Little Rock Nine and Wally Amos. They also will read a novel called Front Desk about an immigrant family from China that had many obstacles in the U.S that hindered their success. As we learned about the passing of Mr. Wally Amos, the team and I wanted to create a celebration of life to honor the achievements of Mr.Amos.
As students learn about Mr. Amos's inspiring story, we envision that students will get to enjoy his famous cookies and we celebrate his life with joy since we was a fun and caring individual.
In this project I have selected fun sunglasses, bandanas, backdrops with pictures of different Hawaiian beaches and luau leis for all the 6th grade cohort.Thanks in advance for your support with making this celebration of life possible:)
