My students need resources, such as non-fiction comprehension cards, pocket charts, a vocabulary game, a variety of reading folders and other materials for guided reading groups.
I teach a 1st-2nd-3rd grade multi-age classroom in an urban school district in Washington. Many students at our school come from low socio-economic backgrounds and need all of the resources they can get at school!
I am a fourth-year teacher needing some help to fund resources and different materials to use during my guided reading groups.
During these groups, I meet with small groups of students who are at a similar reading level. I teach different reading strategies and work one-on-one to also conference with each student. At this time, the rest of my class is doing their silent independent reading. I would like more reading extensions for my students to work on independently and in small groups.
My Project
In this project, I have requested for reading comprehension games, reading response centers, and other materials to support my students' learning of reading strategies. There are group activity cards for non-fiction text, literacy group lessons for advanced readers, high-interest text cards that students write responses to, and other board games to learn author's purpose, inferences, summarizing, and other comprehension strategies. With these engaging materials, I believe my students will benefit from a fun time of learning and be motivated to improve their reading skills.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about this project.
I know these resources will extend their learning in so many ways! Please help me to help my 1st and 2nd grade and 3rd grade readers to grow and be challenged!
