Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Give this project a boost!
A chain reaction of support starts with one share.
My students come from different backgrounds, diverse or few experiences, and with different needs. I know the importance of differentiated instruction. At the beginning of school I make sure each kid has a personal learning and social-emotional goal. That way they feel successful at school.
At our school, more than 65% of our students come from low-income families.
It is a very diverse campus. My class specifically is made up of 17 eager learners, half of whom are native Spanish speakers and the other half are native English speakers. They are very excited about learning and need the right tools and materials to do so!
I strongly believe that all my students can succeed if they feel confident and capable about their learning. Having a variety of resources will allow me to do a better job at helping them each work at their own level.
My Project
We will use the alphabet center and syllables to continue working on phonemic awareness, which is very important for first graders. The gel writing boards will be used for writing. The Spanish language games will provide students with oral practice, vocabulary, and fluency they need. The giant number line will be used for kinesthetic activities connected to math concepts like addition and subtraction. The dices will be used for different math games and activities. The magnets will be used to display students' work on their lockers.
If this project gets funded my students will have the resources and tools they need to work on their personal learning and/or social-emotional goal.
I believe each student is unique and special and that all of them deserve the best. With the help of these resources I will be able to provide better differentiated instruction for each of my students.
More than a third of students from low‑income households
