Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am a 6th grade special education math teacher at an urban public school. My school serves 700 students from kindergarten through 8th grade. We are a high need school with many students qualifying for free or reduced lunch. These supplies would be used with our students during recess in grades 3-8.

Countless research studies and educational reviews have cited recess as having a positive impact on students' learning and engagement in the classroom. At our school we are proud to be able to allow all of our students time for recess. During the winter and when it rains, however, our students need to have indoor recess. We do not have any games or supplies to entertain and engage our students during their indoor recess time.

Our students love the strategies involved in competing in board games. These games would be used with our students in grades 3-8. We need 4 sets of the game Battleship, 4 sets of the game UNO, 3 sets of the game Connect 4, and 3 sets of the game Trouble,

Your donation will impact the recess time of almost 500 students in grades 3-8! Indoor recess will be engaging and fun for students with your donation. We greatly appreciate any support you can give! Thank you!
