Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a public charter school that is supported largely through donations and fundraisers. The majority of my students come from low-income households and participate in the free or reduced lunch program. We need some help.

We are a public charter school with a high English Language Learner population and a significant portion receiving free or reduced-price meals.

Our school has a large proportion of students with ADHD or ADHD tendencies. This means that many of our children are easily distracted, often having too much energy that must be focused and they have difficulty staying on task.

My Project

I am seeking several resources for my Second Grade classroom. First, I am asking for scrapbook paper for crafts and activities that we do as a class. I am also asking for some learning magnets: money, base ten, and fractions. These provide fantastic visuals for my young learners. I am asking for a couple pocket charts and a globe as well, as maps and continents are an important concept in Second Grade Social Studies. I need some prizes for my prize box as well. My students' good behavior is rewarded with the prize box and we are running low.

My classroom could use some help!

I am also asking for a cushion storage container to hold our floor cushions. Right now, I keep them piled under a table, currently the best solution to our storage problem. They are used for our flexible seating. Flexible seating is a classroom organization style that allows for students to choose their own seat from a variety of options. Many of my learners have ADHD or tendencies, and the different seating options are not as restrictive as traditional desks, allowing them to stretch out or focus energy appropriately so they can learn. This storage solution will help my classroom stay neat and organized, as the learning environment has a huge effect on students' mindsets.
