My Students

Most of my students are Special Education students who lack social and emotional skills. Many are autistic or have behavioral and mental health diagnoses.

A majority of my students are part of a vulnerable population and suffer from being homeless, mental health issues, domestic violence and are also in and out of foster homes and 98.72% of my students are living below federal poverty levels.

My school provides them with a safe haven where they can express their wants and needs not only through classwork but also through counseling. We love and support our children.

My Project

Our families need materials for our family resource room. These materials will be available and used by all our families who come to our school for family support.

We have asked for a crib, changing table, dresser, and storage bins to be used by our parents in our resource room.

Our parents will be able to have a safe space to bring their babies while they watch our late pick up students but they will also be able to use the resource room when they come in for workshops and community help such as job readiness classes and parent support workshops.

Not only do these materials help us to create a safe space but it also allows us to organize the items of the children in their own separate draws and bins so their items are always available when they use the room.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
