My Students

Fifth grade is an exciting year that bridges elementary school and middle school. On any given year I have 23-29 fifth graders in their last year of elementary school before going onto middle school.

Sadly, as with schools across the world, this year's traditional learning took a drastic turn when we were forced into distance learning.

This symbolic last year of elementary school does not look or feel the same for this year's class.

My students have been so adaptive and flexible with these changes. Even though these changes will not include any end of the year activities that 5th-graders look forward to throughout their years in elementary school. These awesome 5th graders are still actively participating in and taking ownership of their learning, even from a distance. I could not be more proud of them!

My Project

This project will allow me to continue to purchase resources for digital learning. With the hopes of keeping students engaged these last few months of school, I am looking to get exciting materials to incorporate during our distance learning time. These materials will include lessons across all disciplines that I can easily implement through Google Classroom.

These warmer months can be difficult during a normal year to maintain student engagement.

I imagine warmer months with the students physically not in their traditional classroom will be even more challenging. I am looking to obtain fun, exciting materials that students can access at home and that will keep them wanting to continue active participation with their learning.

In the end, my goal is to make the last few months of their time in elementary school, as fun, as it would have been had we still been in the school building, or at least close to it.
