My Students

Starting in the 2021-2022 school year, I will be teaching students from kindergarten, first grade, and second grade providing targeted support in the areas of Reading and Math. The students in my classroom will be selected by their classroom teacher because of concerns that they are performing below grade level. The students in my groups will vary and change over the course of the school year, depending upon the progress that they make while receiving interventions in my classroom.

This school year has been particularly difficult for our students as they struggle to catch up with the learning time missed as a result of the Covid-19 Pandemic.

Many students are performing below grade-level expectations in Reading and Math and require interventions to catch them up. The National Reading Panel 2020 report suggests that interventions should be direct, systematic, and explicit to ensure student growth and success.

My Project

These resources include teacher support materials that will allow me to support my student's specific needs.

The Recipe for Reading workbook and The Reading Comprehension Blueprint will allow me to write lessons and activities that support my struggling readers.

Often, I purchase teacher resource books with my personal funds. These books provide professional development during the school year, at a time where I'm unable to purchase with school funds. As a small group intervention teacher, I am constantly modifying lessons to meet the needs of my students. These resources will allow me to support them in their word recognition and comprehension needs.
