Research Rock Renovation

My students need 3 hands on science materials, such as a sand/water table, dinosaur dig kit, and a set of magnifying glasses to jump start the class science center.

My Students

Research Rock is open for business but not yet ready for explorers. The kindergarten explorers are in need of the necessary tools to begin their hands on scientific discoveries.

Young children love to discover and explore.

In this particular area in Montana the children often are not offered many opportunities to actively discover their world. The students that I am honored to teach each day often experience struggles in their everyday life just to have their basic needs met. Daily in the classroom I provide a variety of opportunities to offer real life experiences that will hopefully impact their world of science. This year our classroom theme "Camp Kindergarten" will set the stage for a year of discovery. "Research Rock" (science center) will provide opportunities to explore and discover their world in creative and exciting ways.

My Project

The science materials of a sand/water table, dinosaur dig kit and magnifying glass set will ensure that our "Research Rock" center is completely ready to be open for business. The materials will provide a safe area for exploration and allow the kindergarten students to not just hear or read about science discoveries but personally experience science. The sand/water table has many possible uses in our "Research Rock" center. Filling the table with a variety of materials such as sand, water, beans, rice, salt, and shredded paper will allow the students to use their senses in different ways to explore. The dinosaur dig kit will provide the materials for a real life hands-on experience where the students act as archaeologists. The kindergarten students will dig for the dinosaurs and use the materials in the kit to excavate the dinosaur remains in a hidden area on the playground. Magnifying glasses will be used to discover many things and make our "Research Rock" complete.

Completing our "Research Rock" center renovation with the materials would make a huge impact on the young kindergarten explorers.

All of the requested materials would allow the students to begin their scientific quest in a exciting and creative way. The sand/water table is a true necessity in our kindergarten classroom. This would enable the students to daily experience science in a real hands-on way. Laying a foundation for science inquiry in a kindergarten classroom is priceless.
