RES Rocket Runners Club

My students need registration cost to participate in the 2017 Leader of the Pack 5K Walk/Run in order to become healthy and active.

My Students

Our school has a "Rocket Runners" Club that meets every week to help get the students active and physically fit. We currently have Second through Fifth grade with approximately 100 students who attend regularly. During "Rocket Runners" we practice the importance of stretching, good nutrition, staying hydrated, participate in aerobic exercises to increase endurance and walking/running.

Our goal is to prepare the students for the 2017 Leader of the Pack 5K Walk/Run but there is a need for assistance in the cost of registration.

The students that attend our school are from a low socio-economic background and many are unable to pay the $15 registration fee.

The Leader of the Pack 5K Walk/Run is a fundraiser to benefit our county schools which are severely underfunded. With your help not only would our students benefit from being able to participate in the race, they will also benefit from the race proceeds in the classroom. We thank you and appreciate any support you may give us!

My Project

If our students are able to participate in the 2017 Leader of the Pack 5K Walk/Run it will help keep them physically fit, promote great self-esteem and a healthy lifestyle. American children are commonly known to be obese and being in "Rocket Runners", our school hopes to encourage them to make changes today that will allow them to have a better tomorrow.

Students who can participate in their 1st 5K Walk/Run will likely continue the journey of becoming healthy and active.

They may also have the initiative to encourage others to join them in this lifestyle change. Many students are already asking their family and friends to join in the race along side them and this is a great step towards healthier lives.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
