Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I am a new teacher at my school and looking to create a culturally responsive and socially inclusive classroom library. These books will be used to teach my kindergarten students who struggle with social skills and handling their emotions. The books will enhance lessons while providing reflective imagery for students to relate to. The books were selected to showcase a wide range of inclusivity representing characters of different races, cultures, physical abilities, and family dynamics.

I work with students with emotional/behavioral disabilities and incorporate social skills throughout our entire school day and academics.

These books will also be used in the regular education setting to help students understand students with disabilities and acceptance of others and their differences.

These materials contain books and lesson plans that will be used to teach my students skills they are lacking and activities to help them practice skills over and over.
