The books selected here will mean so much to my students! I love the idea that the books I’ve curated will allow my learners to see a reflection of themselves- both at school and at home. In this collection, there are books that speak to gender fluidity, cultural diversity, feminism and acceptance for all. While I have the standard set of children’s classic to teach from, it’s vital that I incorporate books that are both socially and culturally responsive. These are the books that will stay with my student’s forever and allow my students to flourish in an inclusive and supportive 1st grade classroom.
