This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

We are in a race to the finish line, the end of the school year and the children are running out of supplies.

The pencils and some very important much needed school supplies we started the school year with, are all gone and need to be replaced.

Children are eager to come to school, but they almost never have a pencil. I have to provide one so they can get their work done. After completing their biweekly progress monitoring, we have to debrief. We use sentence strips to help make sentences clearer and stand out for the children. Students also NEED to highlight key details. Their highlighters have done a lot of work and no longer highlight. After completing in class quizzes, the children exchange papers then take out their red pens to correct each other’s papers. Their red pens need to be replenished. The children are finally getting the hang of writing essays. They will use the pencils, pencil erasers, dry erase markers and dry erasers as they brainstorm, compose, rewrite and edit. Then it is on to publishing their piece. Each student is responsible for typing and printing their paper so they will need toner and copy paper. Parts of our decorated room is now in shambles and is in need of Bordette borders.
