Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Trenton, New Jersey, is (and this is amazing!) a sanctuary city. Students from nations all over the world immigrate to Trenton with their families. The city, although economically poor in many areas, is rich in cultures and heritage from all corners of the world. We have a growing population of Hispanic immigrants, most speaking their native language Spanish. Many of our students, both native and non-native to Trenton, struggle to meet basic classroom needs each day. This means that it is extra important for us to make sure they have a classroom filled with essential items that they can access at any time. Their social-emotional well-being depends on knowing that they are cared for, loved, and respected.
The items I am requesting will provide our freshmen learners with replacement socks that they can use when their socks get wet walking to school for their school day.
I am requesting mens and women's socks to give out to students whenever they need.
These items will go a long way in ensuring our students feel cared for and celebrated to support their social-emotional learning. I am requesting these items for students to be dry during the school day.
