My Students

I teach Utah History at our junior high school. At the beginning of the semester, most students aren't enthusiastic about state history. However, as we dive into how the culture of the people that lived in this place before us helped to create the culture we live today, they really get interested.

We use technology in our class to bring history to life and help students connect with the real world outside of our school.

A few of our projects include creative writing from the point of view of historical characters, analyzing historical events, and writing letters to elected officals.

My Project

I teach tech-savvy junior high students that connect best with the curriculum when we use technology to communicate and collaborate. We have been lucky to have class Chromebooks in our department for a few years now. However, since they have been loved for a long time now, our machines are getting outdated and will no longer update.

The problem comes when there are more students in the room than functioning Chromebooks!

This project will allow us to replace our oldest Chromebooks with more reliable machines so that no student is left out of the learning when we use technology.
