This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

The students at the school are one-of-a-kind. They love school just as much as the next child. The one thing that many of the students that come to school for is the use of a computer.

Having pop-up tents and replacement sports equipment will have a huge impact on the students in the sports programs at the school.

The students will be able to sit in shaded areas so that they are not overwhelmed by the heat in South Florida. The trees that were once there to shade the students are no longer in place. Students also need to have some equipment replaced. Students will feel better about themselves and the equipment they are using, which in turn, allows them to play better and have more team spirit. This can be a huge success for students that may not have this at home or in everyday practice.

My Project

This school year has been one that has been hard for everyone in the community. Many of the families at our school suffered damage to their homes or cars. Hurricane Irma has put a financial burden on many people. In the mess of the hurricane, many of the beautiful shading trees were lost at the school.

Many times, these trees were used for shade in order to cool athletes off.

Having pop-up tents and chairs will help assist and replace the trees that are no longer available. Also, having bats, gloves and tees on hand will allow many students to play the game of softball that they may not be able to play because parents cannot afford to buy the equipment. We want to take the burden off the parents as much as possible.
