Welcome to my Kindergarten Class! My students are very eager to learn and are absorbing knowledge like a sponge. Due to COVID, this is a year full of changes, restrictions, and challenges for my students and their families. Many of my student’s families have chosen full remote learning and the rest have chosen hybrid learning, which means that they only come to school 2 days a week and are virtual learners on the other days. We have Zoom meetings together every day and use many digital learning platforms on our iPads. We love our technology experiences and are getting quite skilled at using our devices and platforms. However, we need to have the ability to take breaks from the digital world to experience learning in ways that young children learn best, with hands-on materials.
My Project
My Kindergarten students love hands on learning experiences. Remote learning is forcing my students to be on technology for more time than is healthy for their little minds and bodies. We need to experience learning with our hands more now than ever.
The Remote Learning Fine Motor Play materials will bring some much needed fun to remote learning and allow my students to learn with the hands on experiences that they deserve regardless of their learning situation.
During a normal school year we use materials like these to play at fun learning centers. We are unable to have fun learning centers at school due to COVID safety measures and they are impossible to replicate for remote home learning with out materials.
By providing these materials to my students they will be able to replicate what we would normally do in a learning center at school, remotely at home. They will be able to explore their creative side by building and creating with these fun materials. They will grow their fine motor skills, language skills, reading skills and math skills. They will be able to use these materials to create and practice letters, numbers, sight words and cvc words. They will be able to create and explore STEM ideas, as well. They will also experience much needed inner peace and calm as they explore these materials with their hands. The possibilities are endless! I hope you decide to support my little learners and provide them with some much needed fine motor play during these very stressful times!
