Help me give my students remember learning can be fun and collaborative. Writing in person and editing has been a welcome way to level-up our writing. In addition to formal papers, writing to peers has helped relationship building!

My Students

My students are compassionate, unique, fun, and hungry for support. This year I am teaching all seniors! Much of their high school experience has been impacted by Covid in some way.

While nearing the end of their public education experience, they have a lot to do and learn the second half of the year.

My students are caring, capable, and kind. Many have worries about entering their college and career world in this uncertain world. They also have a lot of hope and excitement.

My Project

As we continue learning amidst Covid challenges, I've seen an increased desire for students to connect with others and themselves again. Through teaching writing courses I've also seen the connective power of well designed peer reviews and self-reflection editing can have for growing writers. Although it seems simple, high quality pens can help with inventive writing instruction and the writing process. Another facet of our classrooms that could use some love is relationships and connections. Notes from teachers, to one another as well as some fun literary games can do wonders to help remind us all that learning can also be engaging and fun. The postcards will be a good way to write to each other and especially to those who can not join us in class to help foster a sense of community through writing.
