Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
In kindergarten through second grade, teachers focus heavily on learning to read. My third grade students are Reading to Learn. Most have the skills, but many haven't developed the passion. My goal is to help my students find the passion for reading, writing and storytelling to help them become productive communicators.
Reluctant readers need to find that just right book to help them become passionate about reading.
The books selected have been recommended by students and teachers as being the best books they've experienced and the reason they choose to read!
My Project
The books selected will reach a high range of readers, from my most reluctant to my most advanced readers. The titles include well-loved classics, Caldecott award winners, STEAM content and books geared towards my amazing third grade students. The books are at level, as well as slightly above and below, in order to reach as many students as possible.
I am so excited to share these stories and kindle a spark in my young readers.
We will use them in literature groups, as well as independent, partner and whole group read aloud. I imagine that many of the titles could become a child's very favorite book and spark the love of learning for a lifetime.
