My Students
My school is located in Baltimore City. I teach in a middle school classroom. It's a pretty small school in comparison to many other schools around Baltimore.
How can I describe my students?
Well, bold. Outspoken. Inquisitive. Smart. Silly. Funny. Those are just some of the words that come to mind when I think of my students. They push themselves to succeed and learn new things on a daily basis. They persevere through adversities.
I absolutely love my students, and I can't wait to see what positive things they contribute to the world.
My Project
This particular book project has been created for my "reluctant" and "developing" readers. I put quotation marks around those words because oftentimes these students just haven't found the right book that has piqued their interests. So, technically, they just have refined tastes in books. Hence, that's the point of this project. This list of books is filled with graphic novels and other popular illustration novels like Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Middle School The Worst. These types of novels grab the attention of my students who do not like to read (yet. The goal is to change this).
I want my students reading.
They love these types of books, as they always fly right of the shelves (metaphorically speaking, of course). These books still help my students build reading stamina, reading confidence, vocabulary, and a better understanding of plots and various themes. Your donation will continue to help with the literacy goal of spreading all of the book love.
