My Students
Our school community is made up of a diverse population of students from around the world, who have varying levels of fluency with English, and varying access to resources outside of school.
Our students want to learn and succeed, but they lack all the necessary resources to flourish as I know they can.
Many students struggle to have the basic necessities at home, let alone the materials they need for school, which is a challenge that can be overcome with your help.
My Project
"I haven't read a book since third (or fourth or fifth) grade," is a far too common statement made by my high school students these days. When they talk about the books they used to read and once loved, their lost joy for reading glimmers briefly in their eyes.
I would like to help students rekindle their love for reading and fall happily back into the pages of literature with the enthusiasm they once did.
Students deserve to read texts that speak to their experiences, their issues, their questions about the world around them, and I want my classroom to be a resource that satisfies their thirst for knowledge.
