My Students

What is your relationship with books? Have you ever hugged a book to your chest because it made you feel so incredible when you finished? Laughed or snorted out loud because a character did something so outrageously funny? Cried because the pain of the characters is now your pain? Read a book all night so you could find out what happens and then have to wait a whole year for the next book to be released?

Loving books is the relationship I am teaching and building with my 4th grade students.

My students are curious, imaginative, and tenacious when it comes to reading. They have a wide range of interests are willing to try any book that is presented to them. I believe any reading skill or strategy can be taught through a picture book and my students ask daily what story we will be reading and what skill we will be learning.

My Project

These 50 picture books will go right into the hand of my students in my classroom library. The more options my students have to wonderful vocabulary, characters, and storylines, the better equipped they are to tackle any kind of book or test question with confidence.

My students have been working out of the same picture books all year and these books will rejuvenate both our library and their excitement for reading!

There is nothing better than a new book in the library and the joy of opening the book to take you on a new adventure. My students are going to devour these books!!
