My Project

Students are coming to my classroom more and more dysregulated for a variety of reasons. One of the easiest ways to accommodate and help students move from dysregulation to staying regulated and thus focused on their tasks and activities is to provide flexible seating or options from the traditional school chair. I had the opportunity to receive a large ball and an ergonomic chair and I have seen the benefits first hand in using these types of seating. Often, the students whose bodies need to move are the ones asking to leave the room to get water or use the bathroom. They are the ones who get up to sharpen their pencil for the third time. I have seen how flexible seating allows them to focus on their learning while allowing their bodies to move. They are more focused, stay on task, and stop asking to leave the room or move around the room. This is a huge win for learning! This project will support two additional ergonomic seats for my students who struggle with learning because their bodies are screaming "Move me now".
