Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As I finish each school year, I go through our supplies to see what I need to restock and what we utilized over the course of the school year. This year, I noticed we went through a lot of our cleaning, art and health supplies.

With my special education students, we like to work on a lot of hands-on activities, so we go through a lot of crayons, glue sticks, pencils, erasers and our scissors have seen some better days.

Items like the daubers are really good and paper towels to clean up after some of those fun activities.

Having my students stay healthy is also very important to me. During allergy seasons and cold and flu times, those boxes of tissues don't stay on my desk very long; instead of overwhelming the nurse, I put on Band-aids for small boo-boos and finally, we use disinfectant wipes after each service time to keep things as clean as possible.

Next school year, I'd also like to begin providing each student with their own binder for them to have their own level-appropriate work and a binder pouch to contain their needed supplies. The three-hole punch would allow me to make their binders ready more efficiently.

Finally, I like for our classroom to be a cozy and cute place that the students enjoy coming to. The bulletin board decorations and work I can purchase with the Teachers Pay Teachers gift card allow me to make our work and our work space more inviting and exciting.
