My Project

For several years, our school library operated without a librarian due to ongoing budget constraints. As a result, student access to the library and to high-quality reading materials was severely limited. This school year, we were finally able to reopen the library. Students have once again begun to visit the library with curiosity, enthusiasm, and a renewed excitement about books and learning.

Unfortunately, our current collection does not meet the needs of today’s learners.

The average age of the books in our library is 1998, which means that many titles are over 30 years old and with some materials dating back more than 50 years. Therefore, our library collection is very outdated. Our children deserve new, diverse, and high-quality resources that better reflect and serve our students’ needs.

It is disheartening to witness students enthusiastically ask for certain books only to be met with disappointment because our shelves do not yet include them. It is moments like these that underscore the urgent need to rebuild our collection and provide students with books that speak to their experiences, interests, and imaginations.

If this project is funded, we will be able to transform our school library into a space that reflects and celebrates every student in our community.

By investing in inclusive resources, we will create a library that not only supports literacy, but, also builds belonging. We are deeply committed to ensuring that every student feels valued, seen, and safe in our school library, and we thank you for this opportunity!
