This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students have emotional disabilities and come from low socio-economic backgrounds. They have trouble concentrating and focusing on completing assignments and are very easily distracted. Despite these obstacles, they find ways to try to focus and get their work done. My students also are learning what their triggers are and how to control their anger by doing things that they enjoy.

My students are very intelligent and want to learn.

They face every day with these challenges and are eager to learn and not be defined by their disability. They surprise me every day with their learning, despite the challenges they face outside of school.

My Project

My project is to help my students refocus with reading. My students are very riled up after coming from lunch and recess and have trouble calming themselves. These tablets will help my students refocus from a busy morning, lunch and recess and prepare for a calm afternoon.

Students will benefit from these resources because they will be able to read and refocus without distraction also do research for projects in side the classroom.

Reading helps with calming as well as giving them quiet time to refocus after coming from an active lunch and recess. The headphones will also minimize sounds for concentration and focus on research and writing projects. Our students have writing projects once a month and it is not always easy to take them out of the classroom to other classrooms to use computers. We don't have enough to use in our classroom.

These materials will prepare them for their afternoon assignments and will also help them complete them without distractions by wearing headphones to listen to book and follow along. It will also help me with working individually with them on their classroom assignments without disturbing the other students while they are working.

My students learning will be a success with these Amazon Fire tablets..
