Reflection, Creative Expression, and Community Through Writing

My Project
I am a first-year educator who is working with phenomenal young people. I'm hoping that you will help sponsor our classroom "wish list". With your sponsorship, our young people will be given the necessary tools to engage with their "genius" through self-reflection, creative expression, and community. My intention for the young people who choose to walk into our classroom each day is to give them support and resources to understand the power of writing and literature, as a means of story-telling, advocacy, connection, etc.
One of my goals for my classroom is to make sure each year every scholar walks out of of the classroom recognizing that they are authors and writers.
I intend to do this by ensuring that each of them has a journal for the school year. They will contribute to this journal throughout the year, adding illustrations, doodles, questions, reflections, etc. weekly. The intention is to cultivate a community of writers, thinkers, and listeners who are learning how to tell their stories, other's stories, etc.
At the end of the year, I would like to host a "community reading" night where scholars and their families come together with campus staff and share journal entries.
The materials we are requesting are journals, pencils, highlighters, and pens. Furthermore, we are looking to obtain jumbo easel pads; post-it notes, post-it flags, etc.
