My Project

In this engaging project, students will watch selected films that explore themes such as leadership, ethics, innovation, teamwork, and personal growth. Using a projector screen and a popcorn maker to create a fun, theater-like atmosphere, students will enjoy popcorn while analyzing the movie’s message, characters, and conflicts. After viewing, students will craft a written argument that responds to a thought-provoking question related to the film—for example, “Was the main character’s decision justified?” or “Did the story present a fair view of success?” Students will be required to cite specific scenes, dialogue, and character actions as evidence to support their claims, aligning with Florida’s writing standards for argumentative and evidence-based writing.

This project encourages both critical and creative thinking by asking students not only to evaluate the film’s content but also to reflect on how storytelling influence opinions and emotions.

Students will brainstorm, draft, and revise their writing using peer feedback and teacher guidance. The final product will be a polished argumentative essay that demonstrates their ability to analyze media, source evidence, and express a clear point of view. By combining entertainment with academic rigor, “Reel Opinions” turns movie-watching into a powerful tool for developing writing skills and thoughtful discussion.
