This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My kids are the BEST! They have giving hearts and are grateful for everything they receive. I have been the band director for 6 years and although they are not biological, these are MY kids.
I get to share their successes and failures in life, not just band.
I inherited an almost failing program with 50% of the band quitting. We have come a LONG WAY! Due to the lower income area the kids need a little more help raising money equipment.
You have the chance to help us build a successful program and outstanding citizens of our world. ANY donation you give will be greatly appreciated!
My Project
Woodwind reeds are an essential resource for clarinet and saxophone band musicians to make a characteristic sound on their instruments. Most of the time my kid’s parents are unavailable to take them to the store or provide the money to buy new reeds. By having a supply of reeds available, we will be able to keep all kids engaged in each lesson without the worry or embarrassment of any uncontrollable circumstances. In order to make better citizens, we have implemented a plan for students to exchange non perishable food items in exchange for a reed and then donate the items to a local food bank. Others helping others and no handouts. Thank you for your generosity!
