My students need wire, bar pins, jump rings, needle nose pliers, and other basic supplies to create recycled jewelry.

My Students

We throw millions of pounds of waste into landfills each year. Students will focus on recycling materials this year to make a variety of projects including jewelry.

My students are middle school students with a desire to make the world a better place to live.

They want to discover what engineering is all about so they learn the design process and problem solving. Girls are in need in the field of engineering so this project is a treat for them to show off their engineering skills on a project that is dear to their hearts: making recycled jewelry. All who take the challenge will help save our landfills by turning trash into treasure.

My Project

Students will take the basic materials requested and combine with recycled items to make jewelry and other pieces of art. The resources will give the students the basic material to create a multitude of items from jewelry to recycled art, including toys and other projects throughout the year.

Students will learn the engineering design process in a creative way.

Green is in with this generation and we start with taking one person's trash and making it into another person's treasure. Students will use Autodesk Inventor to design their creations, problem solve, work together in collaboration, and create a masterpiece. They may wear the jewelry at their favorite school function or give it to a friend or family member, or someone in need. Everyone will win by recycling.
