I am finishing my sixth year as the STEM teacher at our school for all students from K-5th grade. We provide free meals to all of our students. These children in my classroom are at many different intellectual and ability levels ranging from gifted to special needs. Some of our students are classified as homeless, some have language challenges due to being ELL, and some children are in foster placement. We have many military families since our school is less than a mile from a military base.
I want to make sure that all of our students are given positive experiences and opportunities in my STEM classroom that will help them realize their potential and prepare them for the future they deserve.
These materials will help our STEM class as I prepare for lessons for the end of school and for ideas to use next year. The Witzend Workshop Wax Melter Kit will give us a way to recycle our old broken bits of crayons that I hate to throw away. With over 700 students sharing crayons, we always have a lot of small pieces. We spend time in STEM for Earth Day discussing ways to recycle and reuse items so this will fit in perfectly with those lessons. The trays will allow us to separate the colors and to hold the molds while they cool. Cardstock and scissors get lots of use in a STEM class and are always a welcome resource. The Clorox Mist keeps trays and scissors free of germs.
