This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Project
My students are hard-working children with autism, and love to see things they have created. We have new garden beds that we have planted inside and will soon be moving our plants outside into the garden. We need a way to water our plants that is good for the environment and great for our garden. We are striving to create environmentally friendly citizens with every Science lesson we teach. Life cycles of plants is a lesson that starts in our classroom and moves outside, from tiny seeds to plants that bloom and create edible vegetables. My students become amazing gardeners all year long!
Please help us to get the rain barrel and hose we are requesting so that our students will be able to water their vegetables and flowers and keep them growing, even if drought affects us.
With a rain barrel, we won't have to worry that the dry months of summer when school will be closed. We have volunteers, both parents and staff, who will come and assist with watering the garden. They will be able to use the barrel water and hose even when school is closed.
We will have students and parents who have volunteered sign up for specific weeks that they will be in charge of watering our garden so it will still be growing when we return in the fall. We can't make this happen without your help!
