This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are still experiencing the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. I’m a first-year teacher taking over a classroom in the second semester. A majority of my students lost everything during Hurricane Harvey. We have no portable electronic devices to help promote growth and to make learning fun again! Children learn and understand things quicker through the use of technology. My students will benefit from the tablets. By being able to work independently on things they find interesting while enhancing their literacy skills!
My Project
As we pick up the pieces and move forward after Hurricane Harvey. These materials will help in assisting our students to become future competitors in the Houston area ! They need multiple interactions with letter sounds to sound out words, and identifying spelling patterns to make their reading dreams into a reality! Our supplies assist us in learning how to write and strengthening our hand muscles so we can write legibly! We lost a lot of supplies and materials in our classroom from the Hurricane, but I would love to broaden these students vocabulary and daily experiences by offering them more encounters with different classroom materials. Together we can help all students love reading and writing.
