Many of our students found a way to use the Fidget Items to help them cope and find a way to thrive in their classrooms.\r\n\r\nThe books that were given have benefitted our students through use of Play Therapy and Group Sessions. The snacks you helped provide were used daily to support students who came to school hungry or needed a boost during the long morning hours. One particular moment that stood out was when a student who often struggled to focus quietly said, \"I feel better now I can think.\" That simple statement reflected just how much your support impacted their ability to learn and feel cared for.\r\n\r\nWhen the snack bins were first introduced, my students lit up with excitement and relief. They asked questions like, \"Are these for us?\" and \"Every day?\" The gratitude was written all over their faces. Some students who were often distracted or irritable showed noticeable improvement in their attention and emotional regulation once snacks were provided.\r\n\r\nBecause their basic needs were being met more consistently, we were able to dive deeper into small-group reading and writing activities. With fewer interruptions due to hunger or emotional dysregulation, students were better able to engage with the content. Our next steps included building academic stamina and confidence, especially during guided reading groups and intervention time.\r\n\r\nYour support went far beyond providing snacks you helped create a space where students felt safe, supported, and ready to learn. Thank you for seeing them and sowing into their success.","fullyFundedDate":1723657294025,"projectUrl":"project/hungry-tummies-busy-minds/8506790/","projectTitle":"Hungry Tummies, Busy Minds!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Griver","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9599264_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1721739600132","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/msgriver"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_12316","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":604,"numTeachers":50,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":57,"percentWhite":0,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":40,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":56.1,"schoolId":12316,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shadydale Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shadydale Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/houston-independent-school-district/shadydale-elementary-school/12316"}
